HUT KEEPERS

Set on the West Coast of the South Island, this doc­o is about the people quietly working to preserve NZ’s backcountry huts - simple structures tucked deep in the wilderness, many of which were on the verge of being lost. When shifting government priorities & bureaucratic hurdles put hundreds of huts at risk of removal or neglect, a group of volunteers stepped in to fight for their survival. Tickets $25 which includes a donation to the Backcountry Trust's planned restoration of Wainui Hut in Abel Tasman National Park.
